This programme has been delivered by Thomas and Ulrike Riedmuller, Selvi Iyilikci, Paul Dillon, Colleen Philips and a number of other assistants since May 2007, funded by Irish Aid. We are hoping to develop it further and are looking for longer term funding, ideally through local businesses who wish to support the local community.
It consists of 2 – 3 half day visits to the classroom and one full day visit to The Hollies Centre. It focuses on what we need every day, how we dangerously over-depend on finite fossil resources and on what we can do in many practical ways to meet our needs more locally without putting our health, our communities and our future at risk.
This programme has an increasing element of reaching out to families and local communities as we continue working with the same schools. So far we have worked with 12 schools between Bandon, Clonakilty, and Dunmanway in West Cork. We are now hoping to include more schools, also in Cork City.
