Managing the Energy Transition

This module is designed to help young people develop skills for living sustainably.
6 two hour classroom sessions (can be extended to 8 sessions)
The teaching style is student centred and interactive. Sessions include small group work,
role play, cooperative games, short presentations, slide shows and video.

Contents:

– Energy and Transport

– Food and Health

– Communication and Conflict Awareness

– Introducing the Transition Town movement

– Transition Training…bringing the skills together

– Develop and video a TV News Show set in 2030 showing
life after the successful energy transition

– Optional full day visit to The Hollies Centre near Enniskeane
packed with exciting activities including natural building,
woodland management, organic gardening and renewable
energy.

Tutor:
Thomas Riedmuller, co-founder and educational director of The Hollies Centre for Practical Sustainability has been teaching many courses at The Hollies Centre, Kinsale Further Education College and UCC in areas such as Natural Building, Leadership, Conflict Resolution and Teacher Training through the West Cork Education Centre as well as delivering Transition Year modules on sustainability and communication training.

Cost: € 100 per classroom visit – € 600 for the 6 session
module
€ 300 for the optional visit to The Hollies Centre near
Enniskeane.
